1. Who We Are
ResumePro AI ("ResumePro", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by ResumePro Labs Inc., 548 Market Street, Suite 45614, San Francisco, CA 94104, United States, provides an AI-assisted resume and cover letter builder accessible at resumepro.ai (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
- Account data: your name, email address and password (stored as a one-way hash in production environments; in this self-hosted edition data is stored locally in your browser's LocalStorage).
- Resume content: the personal details, work history, education, skills and summary you enter into the builder. This data is stored locally on your device unless you connect a backend such as Supabase.
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, downloads and errors — collected only if you enable analytics (disabled by default in this edition).
- Payment data: payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive only your payment status and plan tier.
- API keys: if you supply your own OpenAI API key, it is stored exclusively in your browser's LocalStorage and is transmitted only to OpenAI's API endpoints when you click "Generate with AI".
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate and maintain the resume builder and its AI features.
- To authenticate you, restore your session and remember your resume drafts.
- To process subscriptions, invoices, refunds and support requests.
- To send essential service emails (verification codes, password resets, receipts). We do not send marketing email without consent.
- To detect abuse, fraud and violations of these terms.
4. AI Processing
When you use AI generation, we send the job title, experience and skills you provided — never your password or payment data — to the AI provider configured for the Service (our demo engine, or OpenAI if you supply your own key). Do not include sensitive personal data such as Social Security numbers, passport numbers or health records in resume fields.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with processors needed to run the Service (hosting, Stripe for billing, OpenAI for AI generation when enabled) under contracts that require equivalent protection, or when required by law.
6. International Transfers
ResumePro is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from the UK or Canada, you consent to the transfer of your information to the US, where data-protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA), you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell data). You can exercise these rights anytime from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing privacy@resumepro.ai. We respond within 30 days.
8. Data Retention
We retain account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, resume drafts and personal data are erased within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax, fraud-prevention or legal reasons (e.g., purchase invoices, retained up to 7 years).
9. Security
We use TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest (AES-256) on managed infrastructure, and least-privilege access controls. No method of transmission is 100% secure; report suspected vulnerabilities to security@resumepro.ai.
10. Children
ResumePro is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from them; contact us to request deletion.
11. Changes
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect.
